Give the gift of green this Christmas

Christmas is fast approaching and the search for the perfect Christmas gift remains. Well, we thought “What’s a better gift to give than the gift of green?”  for an environmentally good gift that lasts.

This year people have taken a huge interest in their gardens and making the most of the space they have at home, whether it is a deck or balcony or a huge space. Having plants and trees really does lift the spirits making it an ideal Christmas gift.

For instant impact bay trees are superb. You can deck them out with festive lights, and they give impact straight away to a front door or a patio. We love the Lollipop bays and have covered them in festive lights at our nursery to create some festive cheer. They come in different shapes and sizes to suit different budgets.

Or why not go for a ‘forever’ Christmas tree? There are some beautiful potted trees that can look great the year round. We really like Blue Spruces, they will still look fab at a summer BBQ, maybe even change the lighting look to coloured vintage bulbs!

Give the gift of peace

For the gift of peace and a pure Christmas message do not look further than an Olive Tree. In sizes to suit all budgets, Olives are truly a present with a thoughtful sentiment. Olive trees are also known as the ‘tree of eternity’ and according to Greek mythology originated from the goddess Athena so you are buying a piece of history as well.

On a more floral note, even a few winter flowering plants such as Hellebores, that can be easily planted into a border or decorative pots on a patio.  What is our favourite hellebore? I hear you asking…. well, I would have to say helleborus orientalis ‘frozen kristoff’ is the most loved amongst the team       .

Also for green fingered friends and family why not invest in the tools of the trade for them.  There are some great tool gifts out there such a mini essential kits for herbs and pot plants through to more expert items such as deep forged shears.

So we know we are biased, but what is not to love about the gift of green. Beautiful, sustainable and grows! Give some green peace for the soul this Christmas.
